Archidesktop

Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-10-03

1. In short

Archidesktop has no accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers. What you enter into the tools stays in your browser on your device. We do not collect, sell or share your personal information.

2. Who we are

Archidesktop is operated by ARCH-CORE LAB, LLC (“we”, “us”). For the limited data described in section 4, we are the data controller. You can reach us at support@archcorelab.com.

3. What stays on your device

The app saves the following in your browser’s local storage so it is there when you return: your appearance, unit and window-snapping settings; which tools are open, where they sit and the values you have entered in them; the project location you pick in the Climate Zone tool; and which version of the Terms of Use you accepted, and when.

This data never leaves your device and we cannot see it. It is used only to run the app for you, so it needs no consent banner. You can delete it at any time by clearing the site data for this website in your browser’s settings.

Files you open in a tool, such as IES photometric files, are read in your browser and are not uploaded or kept after you close the tool. If you press “Use my location”, your browser asks your permission, and your position is matched to the nearest county on your device. Your position is not sent to us or stored; only the county you end up picking is saved, as above.

4. What our hosting provider receives

The app is hosted on Microsoft Azure. Like any website, delivering it means your browser sends Microsoft’s servers your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. Microsoft may keep this in server logs for a limited time to run and secure the service, as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

We do not use this information to identify you or to build profiles, and we have not turned on analytics for it. Our legal basis for this processing, where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, is our legitimate interest in delivering the app and keeping it secure. Microsoft may process this data in the United States and other countries where it operates, under its own safeguards for international transfers.

5. Cookies and tracking

The app sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts, fonts, advertising or social media widgets. Because we do not track you, there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off; you get the same untracked experience either way.

6. Children

The app is meant for design and construction professionals and students, and is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct or delete it, to stop processing it, or to object to how it is used. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have rights over the sale and sharing of personal information; we do not sell or share it.

Since everything you enter stays on your device, we usually hold nothing about you to act on, and you can delete it yourself as described in section 3. For anything else, write to support@archcorelab.com. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.

8. Changes to this policy

If we add anything that collects data, such as analytics, we will update this policy before it goes live and change the date at the top. If a change affects you significantly, the app will tell you.
